Book Review - Lorien Legacies #2 Power of SIx - Pittacus Lore

I've seen him on the news. Followed the stories about what happened in Ohio. John Smith, out there, on the run. To the world, he's a mystery. But to me . . . he's one of us.
Nine of us came here, but sometimes I wonder if time has changed us—if we all still believe in our mission. How can I know? There are six of us left. We're hiding, blending in, avoiding contact with one another . . . but our Legacies are developing, and soon we'll be equipped to fight. Is John Number Four, and is his appearance the sign I've been waiting for? And what about Number Five and Six? Could one of them be the raven-haired girl with the stormy eyes from my dreams? The girl with powers that are beyond anything I could ever imagine? The girl who may be strong enough to bring the six of us together?
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They tried to catch Number Four in Ohio—and failed.
I am Number Seven. One of six still alive.
And I'm ready to fight.

Due August 29th 2011

The second book in the Lorien Legacies, Power of Six picks up not too long after the events of I am Number Four. This book introduces number Seven - Marina of the sea and her Cepan, who have taken refuge in Spain. Fast and eventful, John, Sam and Six are on the run and Marina must come up with a way to contact them, but she has her own problems to deal with as well.
More background story on how they left Lorien is unveiled and she see the introduction of a two new characters that John, Six and Marina never saw coming.
Just as good as the first book, I finished it in two days. New powers, new people, new enemies I highly recommend this to anyone who loved the first book.

If you would like to know more about the first book 'I Am Number Four' then go to the official website here

  1. August 23rd by the way :D

I am still waiting for my review copy, but I am a bookseller in Germany so it can take a bit time to arrive :(

  2. Ahh we must have a later release date, because our suppliers gave us the August 29th date. You are going to love it when you get your copy!!

  3. Yeah, I guess so too. Seldeom a book has captures me the way "I am number four" did (and I read a ton of books for my job). I fear it'll be just as Harry Potter back then when you wait and anticipate every volume that comes out... Oh well :D

  4. I like the anticipation of a release date haha. I know what you mean about reading lots of books lol. Not all of them are good either, but we still have to read them. I wonder if they will make more movies out of the next books? I hope people like this series, like Harry Potter.

  5. You really like that? I hate it with a passion XD the penguin department here in Germany promised me to send me a review copy but they think they will just get it in August... oh well, I'll try to be patient. My problem really is that I detect good series at the beginning (as it was with Darren Shan, Harry Potter, Lemony Snicket...) and then wait and wait.... And read, as you said, also books in between that you really dislike (you can shoo me away with crime novels...).
I am still waiting for the announcement wether they make a movie out of the other books or not. I really liked the movie, though it was quite different from the book AND I am normally really picky with movies made from books, especially when I really liked the book. ...But hey, we booksellers just have to sell lots of the second book and then they have to shoot the movie too ;)

  6. I guess we will have to wait and see about the movies. Try and sell a lot of bk 2 and hope they will make it.

There is a new book coming in October in Aust. It is called 'Daughter of Smoke and Bone' by Laini Taylor. That is brilliant, I think you may like it. It's a Hachette title. I reviewed it here you should check it out Mimi.

Does Lemony Snicket do well in Germany? It sort of died out here in Aust. about 4-5 years ago. Cherub by Robert Muchamore is massive here and 39 Clues is very popular.

  7. Yeah. Hopefully the German publishing house will be fast with translating (though they already said, that it won't be published before 2012), because we're not selling so much english books at our place (customers do not ask for that unfortunately).

That sounds quite interesting, I will surely check that out when it's available! ...Lately I read everything from Ally Carter (First Heist society book and the four Gallagher Girls books) and really was delighted. Luckily second Heist society will be published in some days, because fifth Gallagher girls will take till 2012...

Well, Lemony Snicket had it's best times, but as it's published in paperback here now it sells a bit. I picked up the english novels when they published (guess I started the series when four or five volumes had been available), because I never found an author who played with the english language as much as Snicket does. The later volumes had become even better and it turned from a children's series to something much much more. Only the German translation was very poor (as it's often.). Robert Muchamore is popular here too (ninth volume of Cherub just was published in German), but we sell so much Urban Fantasy stuff and vampire novels over here... I really liked the genre when it was almost invisible on the market but at the moment there are rarely good book unfortunately. You have to pick out the gems...
